1. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (dystopian literature)
5+++ stars
Be ready to fear the world. A strict, nightmare caste system. To change society, reproductive technology, sleep studies, psychological manipulation, and classical conditioning is used. The select few rich and powerful distract the masses with sex and drugs and pervasive media consumption. This way the ruling elite wouldn’t need to fear any kind of rebellion.
2. Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica (horror)
5 stars
All the animals have to be terminated because of a disease so the only meat comes from . . . you guessed it. A dystopian view on what can happen. You’ll be shocked at what’s in the cages. The way people can detach themselves and lose all of their humanity.
3. The Anomaly by Michael Rutger (adventure horror)
5++ stars
If you like secrets and what’s hiding underground as much as I do then this book will be one of your top favorites. The suspense and the horror and the claustrophobia and the not knowing. A group of YouTubers who expose conspiracy theories take a trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon to find this ancient cave. Well, they find it and what ensues is ancient terrifying madness.
4. Artificial Wisdom by Thomas R. Weaver (sci-fi thriller)
5+ stars
An AI is running for the world’s most important government position. The pollution and weather change is so bad the world has decided to elect a dictator to fix it. People use neuroreality, a head set or implant in your brain that allows you to virtually go to your own world and meet up with other people. Weather technology was used and supposedly it was sent to Kuwait and killed millions. Government conspiracies. What is the responsibility of telling the truth? How deep can everything go? A race against time. A question of morality.
5. The Modern Prometheus by Richard Ducharme (extreme horror)
5 stars
A Frankenstein mad scientist, hidden in the middle of nowhere, human experimentation book. The body horror in this is terrifying and oh so good. I mean disgusting. This book delves deep though into what it means to be human. We all seek to find our places in the world. Feeling lost can be excruciating. How far will you go you to get answers?
6. Geek Love by Katherine Dunn (strange fiction)
Follows a humpback albino and her time growing up in a traveling circus/freak show. Parents designed their children using substances and chemicals to give them ‘deformities’. They despised normals so much and thought they were so boring that if a kid came out normal they’d get rid of them. We learn about the Siamese twins, Arturo the Aquaboy, and the outwardly normal Chick. Messed up. I found it slow at times and sometimes hard to follow, but it was also unique and interesting.
With all my book recommendations, please check any trigger warnings if you need to. Some of these books are extreme! Even the books that aren’t marked extreme can still contain material some readers wouldn’t want to experience. Thank you so much for reading my blog!
