6. Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy (literature adventure fiction)

Animals are going extinct and the FMC is studying the last Arctic terns. She finds one of the last fishing vessels to follow their migration. Heart breaking. Moving. Will make you feel. One of the best books I’ve ever read.

10. The Secrets We Carry by Megan Noel Opava (psychological thriller)

Set below ground in a huge cavern. Post-apocalyptic and dystopian elements. Inspired by the author’s time in a church turned cult. Color coordinated outfits, lights that never turn off, and secret passageways.
11. The New Wilderness by Diane Cook (adventure thriller)

An experiment brings a small group of people to live in the last stretch of wilderness. Every else in the world is a crowded city where doctors are illegal because the population is too high.
12. The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher (sci-fi horror)

In a dusty, curiosity shop she’s living in with her uncle she finds a mysterious hole in the wall. Cryptic words. Other realms. The more you fear them the more they can hear you. This book was perfect for me.
13. The Watchers by A.M. Shine (creature feature horror)
A slow beginning, but once it takes it off… One of the scariest and most suspenseful books. A globe where they can watch you. Ancient secrets.

14. Lanny by Max Porter (literature horror)

Reads like a poetic fever dream. A young boy who seems to belong with the fairies in the woods is mentored by an old famous artist. Ancient folklore.
15. Rabbit Hunt by Wrath James White (extreme horror)
5 stars
A group of fraternity brothers join up 10 years later to relive one of their favorite obsessive activities. A cabin in the woods. Race. Prejudice. Will make you want to throw up. EXTREME.
16. Winterset Hollow by Jonathon Edward Durham (fairytale horror)
5+ stars
Wouldn’t it be a dream to meet the characters of your favorite fairytale? An abandoned island where their favorite author used to live. A whimsical nightmare. This book was perfect for me.
