My Funky and Artsy BookTok Fashions

I believe fashion is a tool we can use to further enhance our creative mindset. I attach meaning to all my pieces of clothing therefore I am able to harness that significance when I am creating. I know a crown isn’t magical per se. I can make it magical though by using the power of my mind. I look at my crown and I see creativity, I see fantastical places, I see stories waiting to be told, I see confidence and boldness.

To explain the example of the crown better consider how we react to smells. When Thanksgiving food is steaming and baking and frying and boiling we are filled with nostalgia of past moments filled with family, love, and abundance. That is if you’re lucky of course.

Take catholic churches as an example. They burn incense, but not just any kind. They often burn frankincense and maybe myrrh or a combination. Our sense of smell is closely wired to several areas in the brain including memory and emotion. When catholics are filled with the soft and spicy scent of frankincense they’re transported to the ritualistic aspects of the church. By filling the church with smoke people are able to open themselves up quicker to the divine and put themselves in a studious and spiritual connection faster than if the smell wasn’t there.

I’m not catholic, but I recognize the power and science behind it so I use certain scents when I want to relax or more easily enter a meditative state.

By setting up an atmosphere to be creative in we are engineering our space to allow us to enter the state of creativity faster and easier every time.

Listed below are some of my fashion choices when I’m creating content, writng, journaling, painting, drawing, etc…

1. The Famous BookTok Crown

If you have stumbled over to TikTok and found yourself in the colorful world of BookTok full of quirky authors and readers then I can say with full certainty you have stumbled upon someone wearing a crown. Why? That’s a good question. They’re pretty. They’re fun. It seems like everyone in the community is doing it. They can mark a special occasion. They’re sparkly. They remind us of a world full of fantastical stories and magic. There’s many reasons a BookToker wears a crown. This is the one I wear. It’s perfect for me as it encompouses my rough nature side, but there’s thousands out there to choose from! I love to match with others and I also love to see how we’re different.

3. Crazy Artsy Printed Leggings

I own a number of crazy psychedelic and artsy leggings from different artists. Some I have bought at music festivals. Some I bought so many years ago they are falling apart and I can no longer find the artist I bought them from. This year I started a line of wild leggings I designed myself. Many of them started off as acrylic or oil paintings with ink and charcoal added then I photographed them then digitally designed them to fit the leggings perfectly. Here’s my topseller and my personal favorite.

4. Cowboy Hat

This is my magical creativity hat where when I put it on it transforms my mind into a space that is locked and loaded for creation. Any hat will work for this purpose. Just choose one that calls to you. This hat is also great because I go through phases where I don’t go anywhere without wearing a hat and this one is quite fancy especially compared to my trucker hat. I bought it while I was writing my psychological western thriller. When the hat is on it’s time to work and nobody can talk to me. This one in particular is great because while I was living in my van and hiking a lot it kept the sun not just off my face, but my ears and neck as well.

5. Noise Cancelling Headphones

These are a god send! I have had this one pair of headpohones for over 6 years now. That is a lifetime when it comes to technology and they are still going strong. Music is probably the most powerful tool we can use for creativity. Listening to what others have created and feeling what they felt has been studied to motivate us and strongly effect our emotions. The noise cancelling part is crucial not only to block out outside distractions, but the feature also makes the music sound fuller like you were in an IMAX theater. These headphones and other noise cancelling ones make it feel like you’re encapsulated in a dome of music. The experience is meditative and I am able to enter a state of creative flow with much greater ease.
